I've been contemplating some major changes in my life. I haven't come to a final, official decision yet but I am doing a lot of thinking. A lot. If some things that are out of my control don't change soon, I will be taking the necessary change into my own hands. Life is too short (heh, I totally typed 'life is too shart' by accident').
Life is a whirlwind of work, Lily, dogs, sleep, grocery shopping, laundry, long phone calls (and I mean LONG phone calls), and infatuation these days. I feel like I'm finally coming out of a funk that I have been in for more than a year. I'm slowly starting to feel like myself again.
We went camping at Cleburne State Park last month and it turned into somewhat of a disaster. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, after a stop in San Saba for a glass of wine and some lunch, and rain was in the forecast. We set up camp, went into town for groceries, then came back and grilled. We enjoyed sitting around the picnic table, chatting with my pal who is the Assistant Superintendent there. The girls ran around and explored and played in the tents. Eventually, we all went to bed. I awoke in the middle of the night to the rain starting, so I closed up my rain fly and dozed back off. The rain continued throughout the night and some of it found its way inside the tent but it wasn't a huge deal.
The next morning, I woke up pretty brutally sick. I won't get too graphic here but I had to walk to the bathroom in the rain where I sat for like 20 minutes. When I got back to the tent, I was in the fetal position with HORRIBLE stomach cramps. We went into town that morning, where Lily then proceeded to start vomiting in the car. That was enough & we decided to head out a day early and get back home. Luckily, Lily & I started feeling better after a couple of hours and we managed to make a quick stop at Dinosaur Valley State Park on the way home. The rain had caused the puddles to fill with water so the tracks weren't super visible but it was still neat to stop and see the park.
This past weekend, we went to Natural Bridge Caverns & then to swim in this beautiful, secluded area of the Guadalupe River. Not another soul was around. No noise, no disturbance, just the sound of flowing water, Lily's squeals of delight, and some really, really good company. It was a fabulous weekend.
Lily & I have another camping trip scheduled at the end of this month to visit San Angelo State Park. We are looking forward to it.
Things are mostly good right now, for once.
