It's hard to believe that we have been down in the valley for almost a year and a half. Lily will be three in December. She's such a little person with such a big personality. That big personality makes me laugh and sometimes makes me want to yell. She locked us out of our house yesterday when we were heading out for a post-work run. "Well, fuck," I thought. "Might as well just go on our run and deal with this later." So I sent the landlord a quick text and off we went. No one down here has a key for the house, it turns out, so $60 and two hours later, a locksmith got us back into the house.
And this morning, while I was making breakfast, she was hanging out in the living room and I realized that it was a little too quiet. I walk over and see her with my nail polish. She wasn't painting her nails, she was painting her whole fingers. Lovely. I guess I can't be mad, though - I'm the asshole that left the nail polish on the side table.
Anyways, we've been trucking along in life. I went to ACL a couple weekends back and was up front for just about every single band I wanted to see. It was amazing. Andrew Bird almost made me cry. Mumford and Sons was rad. I lost my glasses during Band of Horses but then they miraculously were turned into Lost and Found and I recovered them the next day.
I'm quitting smoking which has been surprisingly easy. I'm ready for fall and a break from the oppressive heat. I've got some trainings coming up in the hill country & am looking forward to a camping excursion tacked onto the end of the trip and some real hiking with real hills. I sure love the Texas hill country.
I think I'm going to buy a new computer soon. My laptop sucks. Once I do that, I think I will post more often. I think.
Here's a picture of Lily passed out with her finger in her nose and thumb in her mouth.
